Organizations often attempt to solve their information management challenges by starting with a technology they know and trust, even if it is not the appropriate solution. Consulting firms and software developers are often all too willing to push inappropriate applications or technology to make a sale.

At Colibri Solutions, we offer a comprehensive suite of services that we refer to as information engineering. Information engineering is a consultative process that engages the client in transforming their raw data and work processes into a complete information management solution. The key to information engineering is utilizing a language that our clients will understand and can articulate to the various stakeholders within their organizations.

The major activities of information engineering include:

Developing the Process Definition Document: In developing this document, we identify and articulate best practices and processes, describes the process of an operation from a human standpoint, propose changes to that process to enable new operations or improve existing ones, and set goals and standards for success.

Developing the Functional Requirements Plan: The Functional Requirements plan identifies information management and security requirements and broadly addresses each of the technical requirements raised by the Process Definition document.
Developing an IT and Security Plan: We address the unique technological and security challenges created a proposed solution and the nature of its use, the physical and computing environments, external security threats and any regulatory requirements. The IT and Security plan also proposes hardware, software and network solutions that work within the existing computing environment.
